More for the pit crew

An instant-read thermometer earns its keep by living wherever the cook is, which usually means a drawer full of tongs and skewers, a truck console, or a cooler bag headed to a tailgate. None of those spots are gentle on a bare probe or a glass display, so ThermoWorks built a case just for the job. ThermoWorks lists the wallet as model THS-830-001, and the wallet is a padded vinyl pouch with a zip closure that keeps dust and grease off the unit between cooks.

Fit is the whole point of a case like this, and ThermoWorks sized the wallet around its own lineup rather than a generic sleeve. It also fits ThermoWorks WAND and WAND Blue thermometers, so a household running more than one ThermoWorks tool does not need a separate pouch for each one. Inside, a thin layer of padding keeps the probe from rattling against the shell, and a carrying loop lets it clip onto a bag or belt instead of sliding around loose.

Pinecraft Barbecue lists the wallet's shipping weight at 0.25 pounds, so it adds essentially nothing to a kit while still doing the job of keeping a several-hundred-dollar thermometer from getting knocked around. For anyone who already owns a Thermapen and has been tossing it loose into a bag, this is the cheap fix.
